Muscles and AST featured at the 2005 International Convention on Longevity

Sarcopenia is the scientific term used for the unexplainable loss of muscle that happens to adults during the ageing process. Research shows that it is a common occurrence among apparently healthy older adults, and an ever-increasing amount of evidence suggests that this phenomenon initiates many of the undesirable conditions that we associate with ageing such as immobility, osteoporosis, diabetes, unwanted weight gain and increased susceptibility to illness.

Sarcopenia costs adults in the United States, $18.5 billion each year in health care. With every passing decade on the planet, adults lose the capacity to preserve their muscles. So it's a problem that everyone should be concerned about. The irony is that if adults perform a structured, resistance training program and supplement a good diet with research-proven products such as VP2 Whey Isolate and Micronized Creatine, this highly undesirable condition maybe totally avoidable. That's the message that scientists from Victoria University's Exercise Metabolism Unit rammed home in their presentation at the 2005 International Conference on Healthy Ageing & Longevity held in Brisbane, Australia, last month.

This awesome conference involved over 80 guest speakers from all parts of the globe presenting the latest information on how to maintain and improve health during ageing. Victoria University's Dr Alan Hayes, Matt Cooke and I presented the data from our clinical trials involving muscle gains from utilizing VP2 Whey Isolate, Micronized Creatine and Max-OT training.

Special thanks to conference conveners, John and Noah Weller who ran a professional, entertaining and thought-provoking convention. Next year the conference will be held in Melbourne, Australia, April 28-30. Any health-conscious person looking for an "excuse" to travel downunder should not miss out on this one. It is sure to provide a wealth of information on how to achieve and maintain optimal health that minimizes the effects of ageing.
